"The book is fantastic, but I think it would have been much more suspenseful, exciting, and sort of mysterious if Riordan had made the book much more well structured in their quest. Take the example where they first start their quest; they start their journey off on the road, and suddenly, and rather quickly, run into Medusa. I think it's a little too "coincidental" that they ran into her, and then just "happened" to find documents connecting her to Hades, and where he resides. This seems to me a flaw in the book; Riordan made this book constantly exciting, but at the cost of making the storyline flow a little more realistically. I think it would've been better if they had been attacked by Furies from the Underworld and learned the location somehow, or looked for more subtle clues lying about America. Had he fixed this flaw, I think the book would've felt much more realistic to read, and seemed less thrown in to make the book constantly action packed."

"This was a great book, but i feel it could have been much better if the author added more gods. I mean the gods mentioned were great, but there should have been more interaction with them. He should have met Athena since she was the mom of one of his companions on the journey. he should have met Hermes too, since that was the dad of the betrayer, Luke. IF this book had more interactions with the gods, it would be five stars, but for now it has to settle for four. It's still a great read for anyone interested in Greek Mythology."

"Percy Jackson was a dynamic character in the book. We could understand the way he felt, we saw him grow, we knew him. I feel this book could be so much better if the other hero's on the quest were dynamic too. I mean they are just as important as Percy because without Annabeth and Grover, he would have failed the quest. I would give this book five stars but like RJ said, it's at a four for now. I still enjoyed reading it, but would have enjoyed it a lot more if the other main characters were as dynamic as Percy."

"The Lightning Thief was one of the best books i have ever read, but it didn't reach it's full potential. I wish there was more inside the quest. I wish he would've fought more monsters, met more gods, escaped more traps. I just feel as if this book were too short. If Riordan would have added that into the book, this would've been a much better book. Not saying it's not a good book, but if there was more action in the book, the book would have five stars. I still enjoyed it though."
